EchoStar Communications Corporation and its DISH Network(TM) satellite TV service announced on 17 August 2006, the launch of Food Network HD. This addition brings DISH Network's total national HD channel lineup to 30 channels — the most comprehensive in the pay-TV industry.

SES ASTRA, an SES GLOBAL company has announced that the German-French public channel Arte will broadcast for the first time in High Definition (HD) quality in Germany. Arte will show Georges Bizet’s famous opera “Carmen” from the national opera-house in Berlin.

These features include availability on DISH Network's America's Top 60; 168 games televised nationally including NFL Network's regular season primetime game package debuting this Thanksgiving; and full-time carriage of NFL Network's high-definition feed.

WILTON, CT, June 18, 2006 — PanAmSat (NYSE: PA) announced today that its Galaxy 16 satellite had successfully soared into space at 3:50 a.m. ET. Launched into orbit by Sea Launch, Galaxy 16 is the 24th satellite in PanAmSat’s fleet and its 11th over the United States. The satellite, to be located at 99 degrees west longitude, will replace Galaxy 4R, and join the number-one neighborhood of satellites in the U.S. This is PanAmSat’s 43rd satellite since the launch of Galaxy 1 in 1983.
