Sky Sports HD2 – Second High Definition Channel Launches
Sky Sports will launch a second High Definition channel from July 31, 2006.
Sky Sports HD2 will be broadcast on Sky HD channel 409 – alongside Sky Sports HD1 – and carry a full day's schedule from one of the Sky Sports channels.
All live Barclays Premiership matches, Coca-Cola League games, selected matches from the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Carling Cup and European Championship qualifiers plus Guinness Premiership Rugby union, domestic county and international cricket are now produced in HD.
The 2006 Ryder Cup will also be live in Sky HD.
Sky HD offers even sharper, clearer, more vibrant pictures and – with compatible home cinema systems and on selected programmes/events – Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound.
Since 1991, Sky Sports has introduced a range of new technologies, from the simple clock & score-line to steadi-cams, super slow-motion replays, widescreen pictures and interactivity.
