Sky HDTV News - Get entertained by high-def Robbie Williams

Sky says it will be broadcasting the first live HD concert later this summer. It won’t be T in the Park, Foo Fighters or the Eden sessions, though, we’re afraid, but an ex-Take That warbler with a penchant for pies.

Robbie Williams’ Close Encounters gig from Leeds will be shown on Sky One HD on September 9th, and will serve up stadium sing-a-longs in 5.1 surround sound.

At least it heralds a growing variety in Sky’s HD content – it recently announced it’ll be showing the Ryder Cup in high-def from 22nd September, and there’s plenty of other content from Sky Movies, Discovery and movies from Sky Box Office.
