Sony HDTV News - Sony Unveils 1080p BRAVIA and Grand WEGA Televisions

2 June 2006 - Sony announced today an expansion of its acclaimed flat-panel BRAVIA LCD line and Grand WEGA microdisplay rear projection televisions with the introduction of several new models with native 1920 x 1080 full high-definition resolution panels and HDMI inputs with 1080p capability.

The line features six new models in 40- and 46-inch screen sizes, the KDL-40V2500 and KDL-46V2500, the KDL-40XBR2 and KDL-46XBR2, and at the top of the line the KDL-40XBR3 and KDL-46XBR3;plus a 32-inch set featuring 1366 x 768 (WXGA) screen resolution, the KDL-V32XBR2.

The XBR3 series features three HDMI inputs with 1080p capability, a built-in ATSC tuner, PC input, two high-definition component, one S-video and three composite inputs. These two piano black XBR3 models will ship in September and be available for about $5,300 and $4,300, respectively.

In addition to the XBR3 models, the new XBR2 BRAVIA models feature the same 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, BRAVIA Engine Pro, HDMI inputs with 1080p capability and elegant floating glass design. However, these two models — the 46-inch KDL-46XBR2 and 40-inch KDL-40XBR2 — feature a silver bezel that can be replaced by one of five different colored bezels for custom integration into any décor.
