The Philips DVP5982 is a Region Free DVD Player with a built in PAL to NTSC video converter, which will allow you to watch PAL formatted DVD's on a standard US and Canadian NTSC television. The DVP5982 will also play standard US NTSC format DVD discs.

The Philips DVP5982 has HDMI output for High Definition Digital video together with digital audio. It also has video upscaling to 1080p for improved video resolution which is perfect for viewing on current HDTV sets. When you use an HDMI port for connectivity with your 1080p capable TV, the DVP5982 DVD will upconvert an ordinary DVD to appear as if it were native to 1080p.

A unique feature of the DVP5982 is the inclusion of a USB 2.0 port at the front of the player. When used with a USB equipped media card reader or Flash pocket drive, you can export images from your digital camera or card based camcorder directly to your player for throughput to your TV.

Multi-format playability allows you to play most disc formats for maximum disc compatibility and viewing pleasure. This extremely compact Progressive Scan DVD Player, can play DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, VCD, SVCD, MPEG-4, CD-R/RW, MP3-CD, WMA-CD, JPEG and DivX® 3.11/4.x/5.x/6.0/Ultra.

Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. Power Up the unit with NO Disc in the tray.
Open the tray
Press the SETUP Button on the remote control
Navigate to the PREFERENCES page using the Right Arrow Key
Press the DOWN ARROW one time to select
Press the 1 button on your remote control
Press the 3 button on your remote control
Press the 8 button on your remote control
Press the 9 button on your remote control
Press the 3 button on your remote control
Press the 1 button on your remote control
The current Region Code Setting will display
Use the UP/DOWN Arrow Keys to select the region required or '0' for All Regions
Press the PLAY Button on the remote control
NOTE - The 0 (zero) in the above sequence represents the Region Code 0 - Region Free. If you want to set to a specific region, just replace the 0 with the region number that you want.
